New London - Jeffrey "Butchie" Brouwer, 58, of New London, died Aug. 7, 2014, at home after a brief illness.

He was born in New London, on November 1955, the son of Robert and Phyllis Brouwer.

Mr. Brouwer was a graduate of New London High School, class of 1975. He worked for the City of New London, Water and Sewer, and recently retired from the Veolia Water Co., in 2014

Jeff was a volunteer firefighter in New London, and a life member of the Pequot Engine Co. #6 on Lower Boulevard. He was also a motorcycle enthusiast and had a great appreciation for NASCAR racing.

He is survived by his mother, Phyllis Brouwer; two sisters, Debra Phillips (Fred) and Karen Brouwer; two brothers, Keith Brouwer (Donna) and Kevin Brouwer; his niece, Allison Nocerino (Nick); nephew, Colin Brouwer; as well as a great niece and nephew.

He was predeceased by his father, Robert Brouwer.

Funeral services are private at the request of the family.
