Waterford - Joseph C. DiNoto, 96, of Waterford, entered eternal life on July 18, 2013.|
He was born on Nov. 27, 1916, in Fitchburg, Mass., the son of the late Benneditto and Grazia (Manno) DiNoto. Mr. DiNoto was a U.S. Navy veteran serving in World War II and later in the Korean War. He was employed at Electric Boat for nearly 40 years as a grinder/chipper and was a union member.
He was a life member of the VFW in Waterford, New London Lodge of Elks #360, and the Sons of Italy.
He was married to the former Pauline Bonanno on July 20, 1938, in St. Mary Star of the Sea Church; Mrs. DiNoto died on Oct. 30, 1992.
He later married Doris (Jolie) Marschessault, who survives him.
In addition he is survived by two daughters, Marianne Thielbar and husband, Daniel, of Waterford, Gracie Lee DeMarco and companion, Dyann Baker, of Gales Ferry; four grandsons, Geoff Thielbar and wife, Sarah, Jason Thielbar, Michael and John DeMarco; a great-grandson, Gavin Thielbar; a step grandson, Michael Baker.
He was also predeceased by four siblings, Anthony and John DiNoto, Bessey Branche, Lucia Genovese.
A funeral home service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the Impellitteri-Malia Funeral Home, 84 Montauk Ave., New London. Interment will be in St. Mary Cemetery. His family will receive relatives and friends one hour prior to the service.
