Waterford - Joseph Haurilak, 84, of Quaker Hill, passed away Sunday, Oct. 28, 2012, at Orchard Grove in Uncasville.

Joseph was born March 16, 1928, in New Haven, the son of Michael and Julia (Smarz) Haurilak.
Mr. Haurilak was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Navy. He was employed for 29 years as a postal carrier with the U.S. Postal Service Groton office.
He is survived by his wife, Laura Jean (Skrupsky) Haurilak, and two sisters, Mary Balog and Anne Hischar.
He was predeceased by two brothers, William and Samuel Haurilak.
A well-known area artist, his work was exhibited in museums, libraries, and hospitals. He was an accomplished musician who performed at numerous nursing facilities throughout southeastern Connecticut.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 4 to 6 p.m. on Thursday at the Thomas L. Neilan & Sons Funeral Home, 12 Ocean Ave., New London. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday in Jordan Cemetery, Boston Post Road, Waterford.
