Old Saybrook - Mark E. Fogle, 57, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, March 5, 2014.|
Born in New Kensington, Pa., he was the son of the late Thornton (Tex) and Helen D. Fogle. Although Mark's family moved to Connecticut when he was still in school, memories of Pennsylvania were always close to his heart. After graduating from Westbrook Jr. Sr. High School in 1975, he became a partner in Fogle Masonry, Inc. from 1978-1990. He was vice president of Shoreline Masonry, Inc. from 1990-2000.
Former employers included Capasso Construction and B. W. Dexter, Inc. He was a proud member of Laborers' International Union of North America, Local No. 547. Mark was a hard worker who was the kind of guy who wore his heart on his sleeve and was never too busy to lend a helping hand. He led a simple life which was characterized by his fondness for old cars, 50's music, hunting, freshwater fishing, and his family.
Surviving siblings are Linda (Richard) Barredo of Ivoryton, Cathy (Keith) Maynard of Westbrook, Carol (and the late Butch) Mason of Higganum, Andrea (Michael) Malone of Brooklyn, and Keith (Jennifer) Fogle of East Lyme. Mark is also survived by nephews, Blake Maynard, G. Tyler Mason, David Mason, and Paul Fogle; and by goddaughters, Lauren Barredo and Danielle Fogle; as well as his great-niece, Brett Maynard.
Family and friends may visit from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 10, at the Swan Funeral Home, 1224 Boston Post Road, Old Saybrook. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 11, at St. Mark Church, McVeigh Road in Westbrook. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Westbrook.
