Fort Myers, Fla. - Raymond E. Lutzen, 92, of Fort Myers and formerly of Niantic, died on Saturday, July 26, 2014, surrounded by his loving family.|
Raymond was born on Sept. 8, 1921, to John and Martha (Smith) Lutzen. He proudly served with the Marine Corps in World War II in the Pacific Campaign.
Ray worked at Hamilton Standard, Pratt & Whitney, and IBEW local 90, retiring in 1984. He was a master electrician and at one time owned his own contracting business. Ray loved boating, fishing and socializing with his friends. He also taught many Giant's Neck Beach children how to waterski. He was past commander and a lifetime member of VFW Post 5849 in Niantic, and a lifetime member of the Elks.
He was predeceased by his wife of 67 years, Margaret (Davis) Lutzen; and four siblings.
He leaves four children, Susanne Jullarine, Gregory Lutzen and wife, Frances, Beth Orth and husband, Gregory, and Mary Lutzen; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Gertrude O'Brien; and a brother, William Lutzen.
Memorial Gardens in Fort Myers is in charge of arrangements. Internment will be private.
