Pinellas Park, Fla. - Ronald Owen Carter, 77, of Pinellas Park, Fla., passed away on Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012, due to complications from surgery.
Ron was born on Sept. 26, 1935, in St. Stephens, New Brunswick, Canada. He lived his early life in Calais, Maine, and then moved to Warren, Maine. He completed his high school education in Warren and, after graduation, joined the U.S. Air Force in 1954. Ron spent most of his military service in Japan and eventually settled in Mystic. He was employed as a supervisor at Pfizer Inc. in Groton for 35 years.
He married Joyce (Ferguson) Carter on Oct. 30, 1958, and they spent 38 wonderful years together. Joyce predeceased him on Dec. 5, 1996.
Ron is survived by his children, Katherine Carter of New London, and Christopher Carter of Norwich; his sister, Linda Raymond and husband, George, of Taftville; his brother, Paul Carter of Pinellas Park. He also leaves behind his longtime companion, Marilyn Kenniston.
In 1998, Ron moved to Golden Gate Senior Community in Pinellas Park, where he enjoyed his retirement years and spent many happy hours golfing. Ron was a friend to all and was always willing to help out, especially with computer problems. Ron will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Funeral services will be private and held at the convenience of his family.
