St. Petersburg, Fla. - Walter A. Hoelderich, 78, of St. Petersburg, passed away Monday, Nov. 11, 2013.|
He was born on March 6, 1935, in New York City, N.Y., the son of the late William Hoelderich and Rose (Sorace) Hoelderich.
He received a bachelor's degree of electrical engineering from New York University in 1956 and a master's degree of electrical engineering from Columbia University in 1961.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1956-1958 as an officer during the Korean War. He worked for Ford Instrument/Sperry Gyroscope Division which later became Hercules Aerospace Company for his entire 42 year career.
He is survived by his daughter, Laura Lowry of Groton; and son, Jeffrey Lawson and wife, Danielle, of San Anselmo, Calif. He is survived by his grandchildren, Ryan and Nathan Lowry of Groton, and Caroline and Felix Lawson of San Anselmo.
He was predeceased by his granddaughter, Jennifer Lowry.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, at the Colonel Ledyard Cemetery in Groton. There will be visitation from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m, at Byles-Groton Memorial Home, 310 Thames St., Groton.
