William Robert Hawley Sr. Obituary
West Haven - William Robert "Bob" Hawley Sr., 89, a lifelong resident of West Haven, husband of Harriet Gordon Hawley, beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, died Monday, Feb. 17, 2014, at the Milford Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.

He was born in West Haven, July 16, 1924, a son of the late Frank W. and Helen (Moran) Hawley. Bob graduated from West Haven High School and enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving honorably from 1942 to 1946. He was a union electrician, working for M. B. Foster of New Haven for over 30 years. He enjoyed his work and took great pride in doing it well. He was a communicant of St. Lawrence Church, a lifelong member of the West Haven Elks Club, and a man who truly loved time spent with his family.

Besides his wife, Harriet, Mr. Hawley is survived by four sons, William R. Hawley Jr. and his wife, Charlene, of Bethel, Paul E. Hawley and his wife, Judy, of Uncasville, Thomas P. Hawley and Roy E. Hawley, both of New London. He also leaves four granddaughters and four great-granddaughters.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Mary Surface Hawley, and his brother, Frank Hawley.

The funeral will be at 10:15 a.m. Friday from the Keenan Funeral Home, 238 Elm St., West Haven, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Lawrence Church at 11 a.m. Interment with military honors will be in St. Lawrence Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
