Richard A. Evans Obituary
North Stonington - Richard A. Evans was taken from all of those who loved him on Dec. 26, 2013. "May he forever fly with the angels."

He was born Sept. 3, 1950, in New London, and graduated from Fitch Senior High School in Groton. He was a U.S. Marine veteran, serving his country in the Vietnam War. Everything he tried, he succeeded.

"Richie" was an avid Red Sox, Giants, and Celtics fan. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a father, son, brother, uncle, grandfather, and friend.

Richard was predeceased by his father, William C. Evans Jr., and brother, Edward C. Evans.

He is survived by his mother, Barbara Evans of Groton; his wife, Laurie Evans of North Stonington; five children, Kim Dart of Norwich, Kristie Evans of Groton, Richard Evans, Robert Evans, and Kaitlyn Evans of North Stonington; seven grandchildren; three sisters, Patricia Schuyler and her husband, James, and Susan Roberts, all of Groton, Rose Carvalho and her husband, Tony, of Ledyard; two brothers, Robert Evans and his wife, Diana, of Ledyard, and William Evans of Groton. He will be forever missed by family and friends.

His family will greet relatives and friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 6, 2014, at the Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl St., Mystic. Private burial with full military honors will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 7, in River Bend Cemetery,Westerly.
