Louis J. (Bud) Chariton passed away June 10, 2013. The son of Ida and Jack Chariton, Bud moved to Los Angeles in 1934 from Canada and they were among very first to set up a produce stand at The Farmers Market in Los Angeles. After a stint in the army during the Korean War, stationed in Alaska, Bud moved back to L.A. where friends introduced him to Myrna London. They were married for 58 years. They had two children, Scott and Susan. Bud owned Desert Discount Tire on San Luis Rey Dr. in Cathedral City. For 37 years he served most of the auto dealerships in the valley along with many local businesses and loyal customers. He was able to stay in business because of his honesty, ethics and morals, many times, doing jobs for little or no charge. It was the only place you could go that would undersell rather than over sell. Bud is survived by his wife Myrna, his sister Frankie, son Scott, daughter Susan, daughter in law Jeannie, Grandsons Derek and Vincent, granddaughters Geena and Dana as well as numerous nephews and nieces. Bud Chariton, possibly one of the last honest men, left us at age 84.
