William 'Bill' Rawlings, 81, passed away August 4, 2013 in at home in Palm Springs, of pulmonary fibrosis. He was born June 9, 1932 in Lincoln, Nebraska to Clara and Henry Rawlings. He graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1955 with a degree in Engineering, and married Bernadette "Bunny" Anderson on June 18, 1955. While at U of M, he was affiliated with Phi Kappa Psi fraternity. He is survived by daughter Ellen Boring (Randy) of Yorba Linda, Calif., son Dr. Andrew W. Rawlings, DC, (Tessa) of Irvine, Calif., and three granddaughters, Caitlin, Megan, and Kelly. Bill & Bunny moved to southern California right after they wed, for Bill to start working in the growing aerospace industry, and he spent his working life supporting many major defense programs. He served in the U.S. Air Force in post-conflict Korea. Bill went to night school at USC and earned his Master's Degree in Aeronautical Engineering. He and Bunny retired to Palm Springs from Newport Beach, and they spent many summers traveling the United States in their motorhome, along with their two cats. Bill was a member of the Palm Springs chapter of the BPOE, the local Sons of Norway chapter, and Minnesota Club. He is preceded by his wife Bunny, his sisters Ardis and Pat, and nephews Rick and Steve. A memorial service celebrating Bill's life will be conducted at Hope Lutheran Church, 45900 Portola Ave., Palm Desert, at 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 19, 2013.
