Donna Jean (Lenzycki) O'Reilly
Formerly of Wilton
Donna Jean (Lenzycki) O'Reilly, age 59, formerly of Wilton and most recently of Eden Prairie, MN passed away July 3, 2013. Born in Stamford CT and raised in Norwalk, Donna and her family lived in Wilton from 1990 to 1997. A graduate of Newton College of the Sacred Heart (Boston, MA) Donna undertook graduate studies at the University of Notre Dame in 1975 where she met her husband-to-be Terry.
During her years in Wilton, Donna was very active in the local schools and in not-for-profit work, particularly with the local PTA and with Wilton‘s semi-annual “Minks to Sinks” sale (for which she continued to volunteer long after she and her family relocated to Minnesota in 1998, returning to Wilton twice a year each year for the event).
At her new home in the Twin Cities she continued her dedication to community service: she was elected to the Board of Directors of the Children‘s Hospital Association in St. Paul, MN, and worked tirelessly on behalf of children and families in need.
Donna and her husband were travelers, spending weeks at a time several times a year exploring the world. She came to love Asia - particularly Thailand - which became a favored destination. Together they traveled hundreds of thousands of miles, often on a moments notice. Twice in recent years they decided at the last minute to just go spend a long weekend in a far-off place: once, in Singapore and last year in Istanbul.
Donna was preceded in death by her mother Noreen, and is survived by her husband Terry, her sons Christopher and Kevin (both of whom attended the Wilton Public Schools), and her remaining family in Norwalk: father Henry, and siblings Debbie, John and Paul, and so many other relative and friends.
A memorial service will be conducted for her on Saturday, July 13 at the First Memorial Chapel in Edina Minnesota. An additional service will be conducted at a later date in Connecticut.
In lieu of flowers memorials in her name are preferred to: Children's Hospital Association, 347 North Smith Ave., Suite 501, St. Paul, MN 55102.
