Emanuel Salvatore Pattavina, 77, of Norwalk, died on Thursday, February 6, 2014 at home with his loving family by his side. Known as "Manny" to his family and friends, he was the loving husband of Rose (Fabricant) Pattavina for 41 years. Born in Middletown, son of the late Salvatore and Lucy (D'Aquila) Pattavina, he served in the U.S. Navy, Sea-Bees in the late 50's. Mr. Pattavina first worked as a union mason/bricklayer, before his love of woodworking and teaching brought him to his career as a woodworking instructor, known affectionately as "Mr. P" by his students. More recently, he made and donated birdhouses for auction to benefit 'Project Return' in Westport, CT.
In addition to his devoted wife Rose, he is survived by his daughter Danielle McElroy and her husband Kelly of Seattle, WA, and son Marc Pattavina of Los Angeles, CA, 2 cherished grandchildren Rya and Arlo McElroy, a sister Sophia Perruccio and her husband Sal, and a brother Carmelo Pattavina and his wife Peggy, as well as other loving relatives.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10AM on Wednesday, Feb. 12, at St. Philip Church, 1 Fr. Conlin Pl, Norwalk, with burial to follow at Riverside Cemetery, Norwalk. His family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6-8 PM at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Avenue, Norwalk.
