Peter S. Anastasia
Peter S. “Papa” Anastasia, age 84, of Milford, beloved husband of Theresa Senese Anastasia, passed away on Wednesday, May 15, 2013 in St. Vincent's Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. He is now reunited with his son John.
Born in Norwalk on November 15, 1928, he was a son of the late Lawrence and Ida Christiano Anastasia. He was a U. S. Army veteran of the Korean War having served with the Field Artillery Battalion 816. Mr. Anastasia was the owner and operator of Anastasia Brothers, formerly of Norwalk for many years. In his later years, he worked for the City of Norwalk as a Sealer of Weights and Measures until his retirement.
A sports enthusiast, he was an avid Yankees fan and also enjoyed bowling and golfing. He loved his trips to the Casino and puttering in the yard, tending to his vegetables. He was also a member of the VFW and the Laurel Club. However, his greatest joy in life was the time he spent with his wife, children and grandchildren.
He was pre-deceased by two brothers, John and Lawrence Anastasia and a sister, Marie Trombetta. In addition to his beloved wife of 61 years, survivors include three daughters, Theresa Merrifield and her husband Jim of Fairfield, Gina Lacerenza and her husband Lou of Fairfield and Ida Oster and her husband Richard of Trumbull, eight grandchildren, Jimmy and his wife Dana, Kimberly, Michael and his fiancé Nikki, Erica, Peter, Ricky and his wife Rachel, Jessica and Ashley, one great granddaughter, Lucy June and several nieces and nephews.
