Richard Kay Blake
Lifelong Norwalk Resident
Richard K. Blake, known by all as Dick, passed away this past Saturday, October 12, 2013 at his home in Norwalk. Dick was 72 years old. The son of Robert James Blake and Ruth Kay Blake, Dick was born on January 29, 1941 at Norwalk Hospital. Dick was the beloved brother of Carol Harris and his late brother Robert Blake.
Dick grew up in Norwalk and attended Norwalk High School where he graduated in 1959. He was a proud member of the US Navy and a veteran who served from 1964 to 1967. Dick worked as an electrician in the Tri-State area and was also a proud member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 208.
Dick firmly believed in sportsmanship. He was an exceptional athlete in his younger years as an avid track and fielder, played softball and racquetball and any game where he could beat his sons. He played softball for Chatham Oaks, Sonny's and competitive racquetball where held many a city title.
Dick is survived by three sons and their spouses, Rick Blake of Ludlow, VT; Matt Blake of Ridgefield, CT; and Dan Blake of Port Orange, FL; as well as seven grandchildren, Travis and Semilli Blake, Riley and Brooke Blake, and Sydney, Daniel, and Andrew Blake, respectively.
Services will take place on Friday, October 18th at 11:00 AM at Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Avenue, Norwalk. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Bethel at 3:00PM.
