BAYFIELD, Wis. - Richard Eugene "Dick" Bellows, 80, of Bayfield, Wis., formerly of Cairo, died Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, at Memorial Medical Center in Ashland.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home in Grand Island, with the Rev. Paul Nauman officiating. Entombment with be at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Cairo.
Mr. Bellows was born Dec. 13, 1932, in Storm Lake, Iowa, to Dwight D. and Helen (Roberts) Bellows.
Survivors of the immediate family include his wife, Barbara of Bayfield; four children and spouses, Cheryl and Reg Lintz of Fort Gratiot, Mich., Michael and Romie Goettings of Mesa, Ariz., Christina and Jerry Kukuruda of Wichita, Kan., and David Bellows of Columbia, S.C.
Additional survivors include five grandchildren, Christa, Dana, Brittany, Amber and Nicole and three great-grandchildren, David, Kayla and Joshua.
Dick graduated from high school in Charles City, Iowa and attended the University of Iowa. He was drafted into the U.S. Army and was stationed at Fort Ord in California. He moved to Phoenix, Ariz., and attended Arizona State University.
Dick married Barbara A. Alcott on June 14, 1968, in Phoenix. They moved to Eugene, Ore., and then to Grand Island. Dick owned and operated Bellows Outdoor Advertising in Grand Island from 1972 – 2001. He was a pilot, and an avid sportsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and boating.
He was an active member of the Rotary Club and received the Paul Harris Fellow award. He was also active in Ducks Unlimited, the Great Lakes Cruising Club and the Bayfield Presbyterian Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
