James Larry Hayes

James Larry Hayes, age 73 of Clarksville, died on Wednesday, November 13, 2013 at Gateway Medical Center.

He was born in Nashville, TN to the late Robert James Hayes and Virginia Dare Harvill Hayes. James was also preceded in death by his twin brother, Robert Harry and brother, Phillip Barry Hayes.

James was a retired Sgt. Major of the Tennessee National Guard and a retired Nashville Metro Police Officer. He was also a member of the Frateral Order of Police.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, November 16th at the chapel of Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home, with Rev. Richard Wesley officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be on Friday, November 15th from 4-8 p.m., and on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the hour of service at the funeral home.

Military personnel will serve as Pallbearers. There will be full military honors, and the Metro Color Gaurd will also be present. Honorary Pallbearers will be Robert Collins, Todd Schmittou, Danny Farmer, Jr., Pat Bianconi, Jack Bergman, Bob Hayes, Ryan Davis, and Ryan Elliott.

Survivors include his wife, Pat Hayes of Clarksville; four daughters, Lori Hayes (Robert) Collins of White House, TN, Jennifer Hayes (Ryan) Davis of Sykesville, MD, Susie Alpert of Charlotte, NC and Debbie Ignatz of Georgia; one stepson, Todd Schmittou of Woodlawn, TN; two stepdaughters, Lisa (Danny) Farmer, Jr. and Lori (Brett) Wyatt, both of Clarksville; thirteen grandchildren, Ryan Elliott, Caleb Collins, Cameron Collins, Noah Collins, Perry Alpert, Abigail Davis, Jackson Davis, Riley Davis, Bella Davis, Harley Wyatt, Brayden Wyatt, Tyler Farmer and Ashleigh Parchman; and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wounded Warriors, 223 8th Avenue South, Nashville, TN 37203.
