Park Gordon Jarrett, Jr., died at home on October 11, 2013.
He was born in St. Louis, MO on August 9, 1925. Enlisted in the United States Navy in 1943 and served on the LST 893 as a Motor Machinist Mate during World War II.
He married Dorothy Schilling of Jacob, IL in San Francisco on February 17, 1946. He was the father of Pamela Jarrett (deceased), Park Gordon Jarrett III (Karen) of Dripping Springs, TX, David Jarrett (Linda) of Nashville, TN and Mary Jarrett of Clarksville, TN. He was the grandfather of Tommy (Michele) and Timmy (Marliese) Jarrett of Clarksville, TN, Park Gordon Jarrett IV (Cameron) of Dripping Springs TX, Kari (Greg) Melton of AZ, Joshua Jarrett of Nashville, TN and Jordan (Scott) Anderson of Springfield, TN, Alyssa Adkins of Clarksville, TN. He was the great grandfather to Andrew and Abigail Jarrett of Clarksville, TN, Analiese, Amelia and Ava Jarrett of Clarksville, TN, Kindsey Brooke Jarrett of Dripping Springs, TX, Max, Gracie and Jaden Melton of AZ, Jack Anderson of Springfield, TN.
After World War II, he was an Industrial Engineer for International Shoe Company out of St. Louis, MO setting up factories in the following locations: Russellville, Batesville, and Jonesboro, Arkansas and Flat River, MO. He moved to Clarksville, TN in 1960 with Booster Shoe Company. Also worked at Grisham Garment Company and Jay Garment Company in Clarksville, TN, Phaff Sewing Machine Company out of New York. He travelled for Cutters Exchange out of Nashville, TN purchasing sewing machines in Italy, Japan and Germany and set up a garment company in the Bahamas. He retired from a Dunlap Sunbrand international in Hopkinsville, KY in 1987. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church.
Memorial service will be held at Grace Lutheran Church on Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Grace Lutheran Church or Gateway Hospice.
His body was donated to Vanderbilt Medical School.
