CSM (Ret.) Roy Haynes
CSM (Retired) Roy J. Haynes of Union Springs, AL, passed away April 19, 2013 at Hope Hospice in Cape Coral, FL. He was 80 yrs. old.
Roy proudly served 24.5 years with the U.S. Army before retiring in 1976 with Ft. Campbell's 101st Airborne Div. as Command Sergeant Major. Upon retirement, he went on to serve as Director of Veterans Affairs at APSU, his alma mater, and later as Director of Minority Affairs at Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, CA.
CSM Haynes is preceded in death by his parents, James Haynes & Rosa Lee Williams; siblings, Frank, Benny & Josephine Haynes, and 1 daughter, Royalyn Haynes.
He is survived by his former wife, Josie Haynes of Clarksville, TN; brothers, Earnest, Harold & Ronnie Haynes of Ohio, New York & Alabama (respectively); son & daughter-in-law, Gregory & Maria Haynes of Cottontown, TN; 4 daughters, Cheralyn Green, Taryn Graham, Kerra Bruce, all of Clarksville, TN & Emma Jean Sexton-Santoro of Sarasota, FL; 11 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and his wife, Antasha Linder-Haynes of Michigan.
Full military honors will be presented at Ft. Donelson National Cemetery in Dover, TN on May 24, 2013 at 1 p.m.
