AVON PARK - Charles L. Dill, age 81, passed away on Friday, July 25, 2014 in Avon Park, FL from cancer.
He was born in Sarasota, FL on August 27, 1932 to William H. and Sally Pauline (Hill) Dill. He was retired from the US Air Force as a Technical Sergeant, serving during the Korean Conflict and Vietnam. He was the Crew Chief for Colonel Michael McCoy of which McCoy AFB was named after. He served in Spain during the Cuban Missile Crisis and served in the Strategic Air Command during the Cold War. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church and was a resident of Wauchula, FL since 1987, relocating from Taft, FL.
He is survived by his daughters, Charlie Kittinger (Bruce), Cummings, GA; Frances Scott (Billy), Lithia, FL; Vivian Mottola (Mike), Clermont, FL; Mary Cleveland (Marc), Orlando, FL and Paula Bernthal , Seattle, WA; sons, Darrell Dill, Pensacola, FL and Steve Dill, Lawton, OK; 14 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances L. Dill and 2 grandchildren, Robert James Dill and Andrew Thacker Dill.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, July 29, 2014 from 5:00-7:00pm at the Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home, Avon Park.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at 11:30 AM in St. Michael's Catholic Church, Wauchula, with interment to follow in Wauchula Cemetery, Wauchula, FL.
