LAKELAND- Damon "Wild Bill" Walker Parrish, 92, passed away Thursday, March 6, 2014, as a result of natural causes.
Mr. Parrish was born October 3, 1921 in Farmington, WV. He was an honorably discharged veteran of the United States Army Air Corps, where he served as a B-25 pilot in the Pacific Theater during World War II. Mr. Parrish worked for J&L Steel in Pittsburgh, PA for five years and then went to work for Parrish and Bowman, his family's carpentry business, where he remained until his retirement.
Mr. Parrish is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Ruth B. Parrish; daughters, Chris Galinat and her husband, Rich, Kathy Fetherlin and her husband, John, and Cookie Quarles and her husband, Dave; 6 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandson.
Mr. Parrish's family will receive friends Monday, March 10, 2014 from 5-7 pm at Lakeland Funeral Home at 2125 South Bartow Highway in Lakeland.
A celebration of his life will be conducted Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at 10 am, at the funeral home chapel, with Pastor David Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeland Memorial Gardens.
