MULBERRY - Frank Gillooley, Sr., was born Sept. 1, 1924, in Clearwater and passed away June 23, 2014, at LRMC, due to heart failure.

He joined the CCCs before enlisting in the Navy in WWII where he served aboard the attack transport ship, the USS Crescent City, transporting troops to Guadalcanal and retrieving the injured and the dead while under constant kamikaze attack. After the war, he worked for IMC, later to become CF Industries where he retired as chief operator.
Frank is survived by his wife of 69 years, Mary, who was a Rosie the Riveter building bombers when they met. In their later years, they took many journeys exploring our beautiful country visiting family and friends along the way. Frank is also survived by his four children: Pat, Mike, Tony and Sharon (Calaway); nine grandchildren, two of whom he and Mary raised; 9 great grandchildren; two sisters: Frieda Whaley and Wanda Melton, and one brother Charles (Hank).
There will be a celebration of Frank's life & legacy held on Sunday, June 29th from 1-3pm at his sister's home in Bartow.
To know Frank was to love Frank; he will be deeply missed and stay in our hearts for forever.
