WINTER HAVEN - Isbon Jefferson "Jake" Gabriel, 69, of Winter Haven passed away on Monday, June 10, 2013 at the Good Shepherd Hospice Residence Center in Auburndale due to cancer.
Born March 9, 1944 to Thomas and Dorothy Godwin Gabriel, he was a lifelong resident of Polk County. Jake was a Citrus Grower; a veteran of the US Navy during the Vietnam War and was a member of the Tuscan Lodge #6 F & AM in Bartow, FL; a member of the Scottish Rite and Shrine International. He was a member of the Alturas United Methodist Church but had been attending the St. John's United Methodist Church in Winter Haven.
Preceded in death by his parents, he is survived by: his wife of 45 years, Linda; a daughter, Elizabeth Lea Gabriel of Winter Haven; a son, Daniel J Gabriel of Winter Haven; 2 sisters, Mary Nell Smith of Bartow, FL and Dinah Slater of Winter Haven, FL; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 12:00pm until 1:00pm, Thursday, June 13, 2013 at Oak Ridge Funeral Care in Winter Haven. Funeral services will begin at 1:00pm in the Funeral Home Chapel. Entombment will follow at Glen Abbey Memorial Gardens. Condolences may be sent at
