LAKELAND - James Elwood Anderson, 79, of Lakeland, Florida passed away on Sunday, June 22, 2014, at Lakeland Regional Medical Center due to heart failure.
James was born March 24, 1935, in Washington, PA, to William and Dorothy Anderson. He was a charter member of Scott Lake Baptist Church and a veteran of the United States Coast Guard, serving in the Korean Conflict. He retired from Publix after many years of service as a truck driver. The family describes him as a man that never met a stranger.
James is survived by his wife Barbara Lane Anderson; sons Joel Anderson and R.J. Anderson; daughter Joni (Brian) Campbell; sister Sherry (Buddy) Kennedy; ten grandchildren, six great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother William J. Anderson, Jr.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Wednesday, June 25, 2014, from 5 p.m., until 8 p.m., at Lakeland Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 26, 2014, at 11 a.m., at Lakeland Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens.
