Truck Driver

LAKE WALES - Mr. Joe Ferreira, 70, of Lake Wales, Florida, died on Sunday, July 13, 2014, at his home, of cancer.
He was born on November 23, 1943, to José and Celeste Ferreira in Elizabeth, New Jersey, and moved to Lake Wales eleven years ago from Hazlet, New Jersey. He retired after thirty years as a truck driver for ShopRite Food Service. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War and a member of American Legion Post #8, Winter Haven. He was a member of Teamsters Union Local #863 in Mountainside, New Jersey, a volunteer for Give Kids the World, and was active in the Lake Ashton community, serving as Vice Commander of the Lake Ashton Veterans Association and helping to found Lake Ashton Bingo. He was of the Christian faith.
Joe is survived by his beloved wife of fifty-one years Nancy, daughter Donna Wickersty and husband Richard of Levittown, Pennsylvania, grandson Tyler Wickersty, and a nephew Ed Pinto of Edison, New Jersey. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Mary Pinto.
A Celebration of Joe's Life will begin at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, July 17, 2014, at the Lake Ashton Veterans Memorial and then proceed in to the ballroom.
