HOLLOMAN AFB, N.M. - Staff Sgt. John Michael Dobler, 34, of Holloman Air Force Base, NM, passed away on February 18, 2014 after a two year-long battle with brain cancer.
John served in the United States Air Force from May 2003 to February 2014, having served tours in Afghanistan, North Korea, Germany and New Mexico. John was born October 23, 1979 in Winter Haven, Florida. He graduated from Winter Haven High School and received his Associates Degree from Community College of the Air Force.
John Michael Dobler is survived by his wife of 5 years, Amanda Rollins Dobler of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and 1 year old son Noah James Dobler. He is also survived by his parents, Richard and Nancy Dobler of Lake Wales, Florida; his parents in-law The Rev. Dr. Jim and Christine Rollins of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; his sister Barbara Dobler Dawes and husband Chris Dawes of Tampa, Florida; his sister Karen Dobler Alexander and husband David Alexander of Winter Haven, Florida; his sister-in-law Abigail Rollins of Washington, DC. John will also be forever remembered by his nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.
A memorial service will be held at the Holloman Air Force Base Chapel on Friday, February 28, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at First Presbyterian Church at 1318 14th Street in Alamogordo, New Mexico on Saturday, March 1, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. In his hometown, a memorial service will be at First Presbyterian Church in Winter Haven, FL at a later time and date. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Boy Scouts of America, Gulf Ridge Council or to the Wounded Warriors Project.
