LAKE WALES - Mr. John Wimer Dean, 76, of Lake Wales, Florida died on Thursday, May 8, 2014, at Heart of Florida Regional Medical Center, of respiratory failure.
He was born on October 27, 1937 in Weston, West Virginia to George W., Sr. and Amy Dean, and moved to Lake Wales nine years ago from Texas. He was a retired drilling superintendent for Exxon Co., USA and a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War. He was of the Methodist faith.
Mr. Dean is survived by his wife of thirty-three years Sue Dean, son Brad Dean and wife Vickie of Longview, Texas, daughter Deborah Mick and husband Butch of Eden, West Virginia, step-daughter Kimberly D. Smith and husband Ben of Montrose, Colorado, five grandsons Leonard Mick and partner Mark Loewen of Richmond, Virginia, Brandon Dean and wife Brittney of Katy, Texas, Hunter Schmidt and Zach Schmidt, both of Montrose, and Stephen "Trey" Raines of Austin, Texas, one granddaughter Brittany A. Dean of Williston, North Dakota, a great granddaughter Zoe Mick of Richmond, his brother George W., Jr. and wife Betty of Concord, California, two nephews Mike Dean and Greg Dean, and a niece Judy Study, all of California. He was preceded in death by his stepson Stephen E. Raines in 2012.
Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, May 13, 2014, at 6:00 P.M. at the Christian Fellowship Church 25 Norvell Drive #B, Buckhannon, WV 26201 with Edward McDaniels officiating.
