Highlander Firestone

WINTER SPRINGS- Mr. Marvin E. Hemke, 92, of Winter Springs, died on Friday, March 15, 2013 at Winter Park Memorial Hospital, of natural causes. He was born May 30, 1920 in Cincinnati, Ohio and was a graduate of Brookville High School in Indiana. He and his family lived in Lake Wales in the 1970's and again from 1985 until 1996. He served during WW II in the U.S. Navy. Marvin was a manager for the former Highlander Firestone in Lake Wales. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus for seventy-five years and of the Catholic faith.
He is survived by his children, Donald E. Hemke of Tampa, Dale M. Hemke of Gaithersburg, Maryland, Barbara Fletcher of Jacksonville, Brenda Johnson of Fruit Cove, Ron Hemke of Winter Springs, and Margaret Clifton of Saint Cloud; twelve grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary F. Hemke in 1991; a daughter Mary Mann; and a sister, Carolyn Siefert.
Visitation will be Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel from 11:00 A.M. until his funeral service begins at 1:00 P.M. with Rev. Pedro Zapata officiating. Interment will follow with Military Honors at the Lake Wales Cemetery.
