LAKELAND - Peter V. Keiley, 82, of Lakeland, passed away at home, peacefully in his sleep, on April 2, 2014, due to heart failure.
Peter was born in Queens, NY, and moved to Lakeland in 1993. He had retired from NY Telephone in 1989 after 26 years where he worked as a paralegal. He served during the Korean War as a Sgt. with the US Marine Corps.
He was a member of St. Anthony Church, Cypress Lakes Veterans Assn., and the Cypress Lakes Country Club, where he was an avid golfer, and known as "Down the middle" Pete. He was also a friend of Bill W. for 41 years.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Kitty, five sons, Peter Jr., John, Stephen, Harry and Timothy; a daughter Katie Luginbill, three brothers, William, Robert and Larry; and 12 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother Paul.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2014 at 10:00 am from St. Anthony Catholic Church.
The family has requested that donations be made to Talbot House.
