LAKELAND - Surrounded by family and friends, Philip Jacob Brauchler, Jr., age 85, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, November 20, 2013, due to complications from Alzheimer's.
Born in Vineland, New Jersey, on October 16, 1928, he was the son of the late Rev. Philip Jacob Brauchler, Sr. and Mary Smith Brauchler. After graduating from Passaic High School in 1946, Mr. Brauchler immediately enlisted into the United States Marine Corp, serving from 1946-1948 at McGuire-Fort Dix in Lakehurst, New Jersey.
Phil was a business partner with his brother, Ben, for over 65 years. They owned and operated B&B Trucking Company in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and in 1960 began B&B Aircraft Sales and Service in Fort Lauderdale, relocating to Sebring in 1981 and then moving to Wauchula, Florida in 1985.
Philip was a lifetime member of the Assemblies of God and a current member of Victory Church in Lakeland, Florida. He was especially proud of his 38 years of service to Light For The Lost, a Men's Ministries initiative of the Assemblies of God. Through the generous giving of churches, individuals and businesses, LFTL assists missionaries and missions projects around the world with evangelistic resources to share a message of hope. Mr. Brauchler was an active member of LFTL and served as the Southeast Regional Director, a Vice-President, and as LFTL National President for four years. He traveled all over the United States and to several foreign countries representing LFTL and was responsible for raising thousands of dollars for missionary literature and Bibles. His love for the lost and for missions was always a driving force in his life.
Mr. Brauchler's love for music was also evident, and he was an accomplished organist for over 60 years. He served as church organist for Bethel Assembly of God in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Florida's First Assembly in Wauchula, Florida, and at Victory Church in Lakeland, Florida.
Philip was much loved by his family and friends, and his godly and faithful character endeared him to everyone who knew him. He was a beloved son, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother, and was preceded in death by his beloved parents and brother, David Richards Brauchler.
He is survived by his wife Faye Varner Brauchler; three children: Mary Brauchler Leverette, and husband, Bob, Jacquelyn Diane Brauchler, and Philip Jacob Brauchler, III and wife, Peggy; five granddaughters: Jennifer Diaz, Melanie Endecott, Kimberly Cruz, Brittany Baughman, and Michelle Brauchler; 5 great grandchildren: Jourdan Diaz, Mia, Haley and Jackson Endecott, and Zachary Cruz; brother: Benjamin Hiram; and two sisters: Ilene Brauchler Karney and Joan Brauchler Laury.
A Memorial Service celebrating the life of this wonderful man will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, December 2, at Victory Church, 1401 Griffin Road, Lakeland Florida.
The family will receive guests immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Victory Church, Light for the Lost fund and designated in memory of Philip J. Brauchler.
