Teacher, Principal

DAVENPORT - Russell Eugene Teisinger, 81, of Davenport, FL passed away on 5/10/13 of heart failure.
He was born on 5/6/32 in Waterloo, IA. Russell was an US Army veteran proudly serving in the Big Red One, after leaving the Army he went to and received his degree from Iowa State Teacher College (UNI) and finishing his education with a Master's Degree from Florida Atlantic Univ. He started his teaching career in 1956 at Lincoln Elementary in Waterloo, IA and his career brought him to Frostproof, FL in 1958 to teach as history teacher and helped coach the football team. After that he went to Winter Haven High School as assistant principal, then to Haines City High School as Principal after that he was principal at Lake Wales Middle School and then to Fort Meade Elementary as principal and finally retiring as principal for Alta Vista Elementary.
Russell was of the Methodist faith, as well as member of the American Legion and V.F.W. and he loved to go fishing and play golf, as matter of fact he was a regular weekend player of the Blue Group and all of the older gentlemen would meet in the mornings around the Round Table at Southern Dunes. The round Table will never be the same.
He was predeceased by his parents, Christopher and Rebecca Padget Teisinger and brothers, Harold and Kenneth Teisinger. Russell is survived by his long time companion, Linda Tyler; sons, Chris Eugene Teisinger of Winter Haven, FL, Randall Alan Teisinger of Winter Haven, Lance Harold Teisinger of Dunkerton, IA, Jason Kyle Teisinger of Gainesville, FL; daughter, Cindy Renee Costa of Roseville, CA and 5 grandchildren.
A visitation will be Monday from 5-7 pm with the funeral service to be Tuesday at 1 pm at Oak Ridge Funeral Care, Haines City. Condolences may be made to:
