LAKELAND - Ruth Ingalls Morrison, 98, of Carpenters Estates, Lakeland, FL died Friday, July 18, 2014 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center.
She was born on August 24, 1915 in Canisteo, NY. She graduated from Painted Post High School along with her twin sister, Rachel. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from Syracuse University, College of Home Economics in 1938; M.S. from Michigan State University, Foods and Nutrition Department, School of Home Economics in 1945; Ph.D. from Cornell University in 1954. She was a member of the Phi Mu Sorority as well as several Scientific Honor Societies.
In 1955 she married Lloyd F. Morrison. Ruth retired from Louisiana State University following her career of teaching, research, and many publications in the field of foods and nutrition.
Upon retiring, Ruth and Lloyd moved to Lakeland, Florida. Lloyd Morrison died in 1977. In 1988, Ruth moved to Carpenters Estates in Lakeland. Mrs. Morrison was an active member of the Carpenters Estates Community and the First United Methodist Church in Lakeland, Florida.
Ruth was pre-deceased by her brothers Irving, Arthur, and Clyde Ingalls as well as by her twin sister Rachel M. Ingalls Titus. She is survived by many loving nephews and nieces in the Ingalls, Titus, and Morrison families as well as by her many friends.
Interment will be private at the Oak Hill Burial Park in Lakeland, Florida, where she will share eternal rest alongside her beloved husband.
