LAKELAND - Wesley Forrest Cummins, Jr. (Wes), 79, of Lakeland passed away from cancer November 23, 2013, at home surrounded by his family.
He was born July 27, 1934, at Jefferson Barracks, Missouri, the son of Lt. Col. Wesley Forrest Cummins and Willia Mae Cummins (nee Foote).
Wes served as a pilot with the U.S. Marine Corps before beginning a 40-year career in the Florida Citrus Industry in sales and marketing. After retiring from Ben Hill Griffin, Inc., he formed Euro-U.S. Citrus, Inc., a juice and beverage consulting company focusing on the European market.
Wes was an active member of Faith Lutheran Church, serving as Vice President of the Church Council.
Preceded in death by his brother, Archer Cummins of Tampa, survivors include his wife of 49 years, Ruth-Hall Cummins (nee Trammell) of Lakeland, a son Wesley Forrest Cummins, III of Lakeland, a daughter Heather Kaleen Cummins of Chicago, Ill, a sister Katherine Dickson of Parrotsville, Tenn., and two grandchildren, Mandy and Luciano.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, November 26, at Faith Lutheran Church at 4:00 p.m., with family visitation beginning at 3:00.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation may be made to Faith Lutheran Church Building Fund, 211 Easton Drive, Lakeland, FL 33803, or a .
Interment will be at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell.
