EDWARD BYRON BEATTY Obituary
EDWARD BYRON BEATTY MISSION - Edward Byron Beatty went home with The Lord on January 15th. He was born in McAllen to Byron and Julia Beatty on Sept. 23rd, 1926. Ed graduated from McAllen High School in 1943 and joined the Navy. He served in U.S. and Pacific areas during WWII, and was discharged in 1946 with rank of Petty Officer 2C. Ed also attended Texas University and Texas Christian University majoring in math and physics, he was then recalled for service in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and discharged in 1952 with rank of Tech Sgt. Ed then went to work as an engineer in the Venezuela Oil industry, field engineer with IBM Corp. in the Military Products computer Division, flight controller at NASA in Houston during Gemini and Apollo manned space flights, and as program chairman of Computer and Electronics at TSTC McAllen. He married Margie Schneider and became an instant loving step-father to her family. Ed is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Mary Kay, and his much beloved Margie. He is survived by his 4 step-children Chris (Susan) Schneider, Eddie Schneider, Steve (Jan) Schneider, and Theresa (Carlos) Chapa along with many step grandchildren and step great grandchildren. Memorial mass will be held at 2pm on Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Mission. Sign the guest book at www.themonitor.com/obituaries
