1925 - 2014 Obituary Condolences
ETHEL MAE KESSLER CORPUS CHRISTI - Ethel Mae Kessler, age 88, was born and raised in the Rio Grande Valley in Donna, Texas on October 11, 1925. She went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 2, 2014, peacefully. Ethel Mae had a real sense of humor, loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Highlights of her day were feeding her backyard birds and playing with her 2 cats, MaryAnn and Ginger. She had a Green Thumb, was the Best Cook Ever, and a loyal Dallas Cowboy fan. Ethel Mae grew up helping her parents in their grocery business, always talking about the great depression and how her family helped so many people. She rode thru the streets of Donna on her beloved horse "Polly" and attended Stephens College and the University of Texas majoring in music. Ethel Mae always had a dream to have an all-women's swing orchestra – her playing the trumpet. She is preceded in death by her parents, Albert Henry Kammer and Alice Mildred Kammer (Oatman); her little brother, Johnny Albert Kammer; and sister, Gloria Reynolds. Ethel Mae is survived by her children, Bobbie Jean Davis, Albert Kessler (Paula), Alice Owens (Mike), James Kessler; grandchildren, Lori Castillo, Chris Owens (Sarah), Brian Owens; great-grandchildren, Taylor Owens, Aren Owens, Austin Owens, Abby Owens, Ethan Owens and Ava Castillo. A Memorial Celebration of her Life will be held on Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Seaside Funeral Home. A Special Thank You to Yoli Reyes, Jan Beck, Bay Area Hospital and their Wonderful Staff for their love and devotion to our mother. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Pee Wee's Pet Adoption, 1307 Saratoga, Corpus Christi, Texas 78417 (361-888-4141). To view tribute, please visit www.seasidefuneral.com.
