MORRISS HENRY ROBINSON Morriss Henry Robinson, longtime McAllen resident, died Christmas Eve, 2013, at the age of 93. He was born in Little Rock Arkansas to Lewis Sleeper and Mayme M. Robinson. Lewis Robinson moved his family to McAllen when Morriss was 2 years old, establishing a home just a block away from Morriss's future wife, Lucille. He and Lucy graduated from McAllen High School in 1938, after which, Morriss attended Texas Tech University for 2 years studying mechanical engineering before being called to serve his country during World War II. He was initially assigned to the U. S. Coast Guard, and then joined the Naval Air Corps to become a pilot. He spent the war years flying and instructing in several different types of Naval Aircraft. Following the war, Morriss returned to McAllen and went to work with his father at Robinson Machine Shop on South Guerra Street in downtown McAllen. He eventually became owner and sole proprietor until his retirement in October of 1999 at the age of 78. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and enjoyed a good game of golf. Morriss and Lucille Robinson were married for seventy years prior to his passing. They had three children. Morriss was predeceased by his parents, a son, Morriss Henry Robinson, Jr and daughter, Sharon Dell Elliott, and his brother, Lewis S. Robinson, Jr. He is survived by his wife, Lucille; daughter, Connie Fielder-Norton (Ray); grandchildren, Dawn del Alamo (Jorge) and Paul Kenneth Fielder (Michelle), four great-grandchildren and three nephews. A visitation will be held at Kreidler Funeral Home from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Thursday, January 2, 2014. A private graveside service is being handled by Kreidler Funeral Home.
