NORENE W. BRUNSON
McALLEN - Norene Williams Brunson, 99, of McAllen passed away peacefully Tuesday, May 8 at the Bridges of Edinburg. She joins in heaven OJ. Brunson, her beloved husband of 67 years. She was born Feb. 14, 1913 in Smithville, TX and was married there on Feb. 12, 1938. They made their home in Houston where she taught school and Lou worked for Hughes Tool Co. through WW2. 'n 1946, they moved to the Rio Grande Valley residing in Donna, Pharr and eventually McAllen. Norene continued her teacher career at Crockett Elementary School and retired in 1973. She earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from Texas Women's University in 1934.
She was predeceased by her husband, OJ. Lou Brunson and an infant son, Hugh Harvey. She is survived by her daughter, Beverly and son-in-law Jerry Ebensberger of Austin, grandson, Adam Ebensberger of Denver, Co., brother, Wayne Cox of San Antonio, niece, Patti Delphia Burleson of San Antonio and nephew, Bill Stephens of Corpus Christi.
For decades, St. Mark's United Methodist Church was the Brunson family church where Norene and L, both faithfully served as active members and on various boards. Her other interests were parenting, grand parenting, painting , reading and antique collecting with Lou.
Memorial contributions can be made to St. Mark's United Methodist Church, 301 W. Pecan, McAllen, 78501 or the Rio Grande Valley Children's Home, Rt.11 Box 535, Mission TX. 78572.
A visitation will be held Thursday, May 10 from5-7 p.m.at Kreidler Funeral Home, 314 N. 10th, McAllen. A graveside burial will take place Friday, May 11 at 3 p.m. in Memorial Park Cemetery, 8919 Hwy. N. in Victoria, TX. kreidlerfuneralhome.com
