RALPH G. GALVAN McALLEN - Ralph G. Galvan, 92, passed away on Friday, April 25, 2014. He was born in Harlingen, Texas to Jose D. Galvan and Eloida Gutierrez Galvan. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Mary E. Galvan, his parents, and his siblings Jose V. Galvan, Hortencia Resendez, and Alonzo D. Galvan. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He grew up in Harlingen where he lived most of his life. He later moved to McAllen where he resided for the past 7 years. Ralph was in the United States Marine Corps and served in World War II. He was a federal employee and retired with U.S. Customs in 1979. He is survived by his children; Ralph Galvan Jr. (Betty Ann) of San Antonio, Debbie Wise (Gary) of McAllen, and Roel Galvan of Harlingen, sisters; Consuelo Villarreal, Aida Leston, and Frances Galvan, brothers; Homer Galvan and Alfredo Galvan, grandchildren; Jennifer Bean (Thomas) of Boise, Idaho, Rick Alvarez Jr. of McAllen, Lisa Galvan of Houston, Sarah Alvarez Picou (Kevin) of McAllen, Nicole Galvan of Harlingen, Patrick Galvan of San Antonio, and Marybeth Galvan of Harlingen, and three great grandchildren; Thomas, Madison, and Alston Bean of Boise, Idaho. The family would like to thank his caregivers, Jessy Acosta and Flor Tovar Sanchez for their kind and loving care. A special thank you to Dr. Donna Joule, Dr. Terry Posluszny, Dr. Keith Picou, the nurses at House Calls, and the staff at Biltmore Assisted Living who always went above and beyond to provide their assistance. On Saturday May 3, a celebration of his life will be held at his daughter's residence 722 South H.
