RAUL "MARTY" MARTINEZ Obituary
RAUL "MARTY" MARTINEZ MISSION - Raul "Marty" Martinez, 65, of Mission, Texas entered into eternal rest on Thursday, March 20, 2014. Born to Raul and Maria Q. Martinez in Flint, MI, he was raised in Victoria and Mission, where he graduated from Mission High School in 1969. He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corp during the Vietnam War and was awarded 5 medals, including the Navy Achievement Medal with Combat V. He served as a Mission Police Officer and worked for Halliburton for nearly 35 years. He was a member of the Catholic War Veterans, the American Legion, and the Leatherneck Motorcycle Club. He is preceded in death by his mother and siblings Julian, Pauline, Jesse, Joe, and Richard. He is survived by his wife Irma, daughters Melissa (Ismael) Galvan of Mission and Dolores (Juan) Lozano of Laredo, and 7 grandchildren; Geronimo, Justine, Vanessa, and Grace Galvan of Mission, and Zaraelli, Zoe, and Zofia Lozano of Laredo; his father Raul, Sr. of Austin, siblings Oralia (Antonio) Delgado, Armando (Gloria), and Cynthia Martinez of Mission and John (Cathy) of Fargo, N.D. Visitation will be today, Monday, March 24, 2014, from 5 to 9pm with a Rosary at 7pm at Flores Funeral Home in Mission. Funeral mass will be at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church on Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at 1pm, with burial following at RGV State Veterans Cemetery.
