Obituary Condolences

ROGELIO R. OLIVAREZ Rogelio Olivarez served in the U.S Army from 1969 to 1975. He was a proud Veteran of the Vietnam War, where he was a member of the 101st Airborne Screaming Eagles. He earned a Purple Heart, a Bronze Star, and various other medals for his bravery. Rogelio loved hunting and being at the ranch. He also enjoyed gambling trips to Louisiana. He always enjoyed his reunions with his war buddies. He had a great sense of humor and loved having cook-outs with his family. Rogelio was well loved by everyone he met. He was a gentle soul who will be deeply missed. Rogelio is preceded in death by his parents, Santiago Olivarez Sr., and Filomena Ramirez and two brothers, Diego (Genoveva) Olivarez Sr. and Esteban Olivarez. He is survived by his sibilings: Concepcion (Juan) Negrete, Santiago (Josie) Olivarez Jr., Manuel Olivarez, Alicia (+Alan) Ramos, Angelina (+Moyo) Garcia, Fermin (Linda) Olivarez, Fidela (Alonzo) Alvarez, Jovita (+Roel) Rodriguez, Arnoldo (Rosa) Olivarez, Maria Guadalupe Olivarez, and by his nieces and nephews. A mass in honor of Rogelio was held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Thursday, May 8, 2014, and interment was at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery.
