Carl Eugene Carson

FREMONT: Carl Eugene Carson, known to his friends and family as "Gene", 80 years old of Fremont, Ohio went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, June 1, 2014, with his wife of 34 years, Suzanne, by his side. He died of heart related problems. He was a survivor of Esophageal Cancer, having been cancer free since the fall of 2012.

He was born to Carl Lesley Carson and Stella Mae Moore on August 28, 1933 in Fostoria, Ohio. He graduated from Fostoria High School in 1951. He served during the Korean Conflict as supply sergeant outside Tokyo, Japan from 1953-1955. He married Theresa Ann Sberna in June of 1956 in Bellevue, Ohio. Both his parents and his first wife preceded him in death.

He is survived by Suzanne Carol Gottron (nee Kunkle), whom he married on July, 22 1979; He is further survived by his two sisters, Patricia Carson, of Yreka, CA and June (Ben) Peterman of Yreka, CA; two daughters, Carla (Tom) Newton of Houston, TX and Kelly (Len) Hickey of McDonough, GA; two grandchildren, five step-children, Renee (Thom) Dayringer of Fremont, OH, Greg Gottron of Bayside, OH, Kevin Gottron of Fremont, OH, Cindi Gottron, of Fremont, OH and Paul (Sande) Gottron of Port Clinton, OH; brother-in-law, Dr. Tom Kunkle of Fremont, OH; 14-grandchildren, Emily Newton of Boston, MA, Philip Newton of Chantilly, VA, Nickole Karr, Marshall Howell, Tim (Jennifer) Howell, Josh Gottron, Jennifer Gottron, Jeff Gottron, Cory Gottron, Derek Gottron, Dylan Gottron, Makena Gottron, Lisa Dayringer and Anna Dayringer; ten great-grandchildren Silver Lyons, Sydney Lyons, Kasper Sawyer, Macy Howell, Tabitha Howell, Sami Howell, Ema Howell, Ethan Deaton, Emily Deaton and Maddox Johnson.

Gene enjoyed fishing, baking, music, dancing, reading, and was an avid tennis player in his youth. He worked at Whirlpool for 38 years as a Quality Supervisor before retiring and then spent six years as a Quality Manger at Woolen Products. He was a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks, Lodge 169 and the Sandusky County Senior Center, where he volunteered in the kitchen and supplied his famous cookies and breads for the tent at the Sandusky County Fair.

Visitation will be on Thursday, June 5th, 2014 from 2-4 and 6-8P.M. at Keller-Ochs-Koch-Mason Funeral & Cremation Service, 416 S. Arch Street, Fremont, OH. Funeral Services will take place on Friday, June 6th, 2014, 11:00A.M. at the funeral home, with Pastor Gene Weishuhn officiating. Military services will also be held at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Bellevue Cemetery.
