Cecil Long, Jr.

FREMONT: Cecil Long, Jr., 81, of Fremont, went to be with the Lord on January 6, 2014. Cecil was born February 29, 1392 to Cecil and Geneva (Branyan) Long, Sr. He was energetic, loving and full of life.

Cecil enjoyed sports especially watching the Boston Red Sox and the Ohio State Buckeyes. In his free time he enjoyed camping, gardening, fishing, playing cards, and going to Florida in the winters for the last 14 years with his wife, Carol. He was a United States Navy veteran enlisting in 1951. He served in Italy, France, Spain and Portugal during the Korean War.

Cecil leaves behind his wife of 56 years, Carol; four children: Raymond Long of Fremont, OH, Shirley Evans of Fremont, OH, Arlene (Joe) LaPlante of Sylvania, OH, and Sandra (Keith) Carothers of Portage, MI. He also leaves behind 12 grandchildren: Benjamin, Casey, Ashley, Bryan, Tiffany, Ryan, Derek, Natalie, Nick, Andrew, Noah and Paige; brother, Gene (Cecil) Long.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Dorothy and Iva, brothers, Gerald and James Long.

Visitation will take place Friday, January 10, 2014 from 3-8P.M. at Keller-Ochs-Koch-Mason Funeral Home, 416 S. Arch Street, Fremont, Ohio. Funeral services will take place at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday at Keller-Ochs-Koch-Mason Funeral Home, with Pastor Bill Baumann officiating. Burial will follow at Smith Cemetery with the V.F.W. and American Legion performing military graveside rights.
