Patricia Ann Hobgood McMullen Obituary
Patricia Ann Hobgood

Patricia Ann Hobgood McMullen was granted her angel wings at the age of 71 on Thursday, November 7, 2013. She suddenly passed into God's Hands from natural causes. Ann was born on October 30, 1942, in Monroe, Louisiana. In Monroe, Ann met her high school sweetheart, Robert Nelson McMullen, at the age of 15. Ann graduated Ouachita High School in 1960. She then graduated in 1964 from Centenary College with a Bachelors of Education and later received her Masters of Education and plus 30 from Louisiana State University. Ann was a passionate teacher in Caddo Parish for 33 years before retiring in 2000.

Ann was preceded in death by her father, Vernon Lesley Hobgood; and nephew, Brian Nelson Perry. Ann is survived by husband, Robert Nelson McMullen of Shreveport, Louisiana; son, Robert "Robbie" Nelson McMullen, Jr. of Bossier City, Louisiana; daughter, Pamela McMullen Robinson and her husband, Daniel Robinson; mother, Mildred Moore Abrams of Swartz, Louisiana; sister, Carolyn Hobgood Perry and her husband, Herbert Perry of Swartz, Louisiana; cousin, Kay Richardson Fowler of Monroe, Louisiana; nephews, Fred McMullen, Mike McMullen and Bert Perry; special cousins, Brandon and Kim Albritton and their children, Grant and Landry of Downsville, Louisiana; canine companion, Chloe McMullen.

Ann and Robert McMullen were married for 50 years on July 19, 2013. Their final move back to Shreveport, Louisiana 43 years ago is where they raised their family. Ann was a wonderful wife and mother but she will definitely be remembered for spoiling and loving her five grandchildren. Ann was known as "Mackie" to her two oldest grandchildren: Lauren Elizabeth McMullen, age 19 and James Nelson McMullen, age 17. She also proudly answered to the name of "Mama Mac" from her three youngest grandchildren: Andrew Thomas Robinson age 16; Christopher Robert Robinson, age 13 and Kevin Daniel Robinson, age 8. Ann's biggest joy in life was to hear about her grandchildren's lives. She was her grandchildren's first educator. She stayed on the floor putting puzzles together and reading them stories. She called out spelling words and checked homework. She even learned how to Facetime so she could be more involved in their lives. Ann was definitely her grandchildren's biggest sporting fan and made every sporting event that she could make. Ann made a lasting mark on her families' lives.

Ann was a member of Broadmoor Baptist Church of Shreveport, Louisiana for 38 years where she served with the Bethel class. Ann was a member of the Alpha Eta chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa sorority. She was a member of the Red River Hallmark Club. Ann stayed active with her Bunco group of 20+ years and enjoyed eating and fellowshipping with her Summer Grove Tigers Retired Teacher Lunch Group. Ann enjoyed gardening, collecting antiques and bird watching.

Visitation will be at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, November 11, 2013, at Broadmoor Baptist Church, at 4110 Youree Drive in Shreveport, Louisiana in the church parlor. The service to celebrate Ann's life will be in the Broadmoor Baptist Memorial Chapel at 2:30 p.m. with Dr. Larry Williams officiating, and followed by the graveside service at Forest Park Cemetery at 3700 St. Vincent Avenue in Shreveport, Louisiana.
