Sam Donald, Jr.

Memorial Services for Mr. Sam Donald, Jr., 97, of Monroe, LA will be held at 12 Noon Thursday March 13, 2014 at the Grace Episcopal Church in Monroe, LA with the Rev. Whit Stodghill and the Rev. Richard H. Norman Jr. officiating. Friends and family are invited for visitation at 11:00 AM in Kilbourne Hall. Internment will be in the church columbarium under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home.

Sam Donald was born in Vossburg, Mississippi on July 18, 1916, but lived in Monroe most of his life. He was a member of Grace Episcopal Church and served on the Vestry several times and as Senior Warden, Junior Warden, and Treasurer.

Mr. Donald served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II and The Korean Conflict retiring in 1976 at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He was a Certified Public Accountant for many years, starting his own firm in 1964. He retired from the firm in 1979 and since served on the staff and Board of Directors of several corporations.

Mr. Donald was preceded in death by his father Sam Donald, his mother Virginia Elizabeth Herrington Donald, brother, Erman Donald and daughter Virginia Alma "Ginger" Donald Tuttle.

Survivors include his wife of over 70 years Carolyn Renwick Donald, Son-in-law, William C. Tuttle, granddaughters Julie Paige Tuttle of Chapel Hill, NC, Robin Elaine Tuttle, and her son Jackson Tuttle-Luft of Charlotte, NC.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Herschel Harter, Dr. Emile Barrow, Dr. Sam Trinca, Barney M. Tucker, Francis N. Barringer, Fredric C. Amman III, Dennis Dollar, William Dennis Brown IV, A. Harris Brown, Reneau Breard, and Miles K. Luke.

Memorials may be given to Grace Episcopal Church Monroe, Chennault Aviation Museum or the .
