"Bounce" AKA Eugene J. Jungwirth, age 85 of Oshkosh, passed away at his home with his family at his side on Thursday, September 19, 2013. He was born on November 7, 1927, in Oshkosh, a son of the late John S. and Christina M. (Youngbauer) Jungwirth. Bounce served his country in the U.S. Navy during WW II and married the former Patricia Schroeder on January 17, 1959. She preceded him in death on March 19, 2008. Bounce had worked for and retired from the Morgan Door Co. after 47 years of service. He greatly enjoyed riding his bike to South Park and loved sports, especially the Chicago Bears and the Dodgers. His greatest past time was Saturday mornings at Nigl's Chieftan playing with the cribbage crew and also Daddy-days with Boog and Lool.
He is survived by and his memory will be cherished by a son, Michael (Jennifer) of Racine; three daughters, Connie (Mark) Hyler, Cindy Leib and Christine (Todd) Whitty, all of Oshkosh; five sisters, Amber LaFontaine, Jackie (Willard) Frank, Jayne Eisch all of Oshkosh; Marlene (Tom) Friesch of Manatobish, WI; and Judy Dadas of Oshkosh; six grandchildren, Jonathan Jungwirth, Joe and Tina Hyler, Eric, Megan and Adam Leib; a great-grandson, Jordan Hyler. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many very dear friends. Bounce was preceded in death also by a sister, Connie Brown; two brothers-in-law, Jack LaFontaine and Adrian Dadas; a great-granddaughter, Marley Blue Hyler-Friedman.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Bounce on Monday, September 23, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. in St. Jude Parish, St. Vincent Catholic Church, (corner of Oregon St. and South Park Ave.) with the Rev. Fr. William Van de Kreeke as celebrant. Burial with full military honors will follow at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held on Sunday at the Poklasny Funeral Home, 870 W. South Park Ave. from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at which time a Parish Prayer Service will be held. A memorial fund is being established. The family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to the Aurora VNA Hospice, especially, Vicki, Jean, Bev and Shelly for the compassionate and loving care that was given to Bounce and the family.
