Verner, Alfred "John'

On June 4th, 2014 Alfred "John" Verner passed go and collected $200. He then transcended his earthly boundaries to join his parents, Alfred and Alice and beloved sister, Susie at the great table. John was born on April 23, 1938, in Waupun, WI. Upon his high school graduation, he served 3 years in the army before marrying Bonnie Seifeldt in Oshkosh on November 24, 1962. He pursued a career in sales while serving in several different organizations such as the Oshkosh Jaycees, the Boy scouts of America, the Lions Club, and the Elks Clubs. John was a lifelong member of the Trinity Episcopal Church, serving on the vestry, as an usher and as a youth leader in his earlier years. His love for golf began at a young age and continued throughout his life. In his retirement he spent time volunteering at the local food pantry and every year during the EAA Air Adventure show. He will be dearly missed by his "coffee buddies" who he met with every weekday morning. John's love for his family, generous spirit and heart of gold will be remembered by all those who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie (Seifeldt) Verner; two sons, Jeffrey (Christine Morrissey) Verner of Appleton; Steve (Lynette) Verner of Navarre, FL.; and daughter, Amy Verner Haque of Oshkosh; five grandchildren, Ty and Cody Viegut, Lucy Franks, Tracy (Green) King, and Mark Green; two great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Garrett King; one sister, Beth (Bob) Reynolds of Jackson, MI.; sister-in-law, Patti (Seifeldt) Schermetzler of San Diego, CA;, along with several nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred H. Verner and Alice Marsh Verner; his in-laws, Walter E. Seifeldt and Denise Chatley Seifeldt; one sister, Susan (Verner) Jones; and one brother-in -law, Walter A. Seifeldt.

Funeral services for John will be held on Thursday June 12, at 5:00 PM in Trinity Episcopal Church in Oshkosh. Family and friends may call at the church on Thursday from 3:00 PM until the hour of services.

In lieu of flowers a memorial in John's name will be established.
