Crahen, James Edward

James Edward Crahen, age 81, passed away on June 28, 2014 after a short battle with cancer. Jim was born in Oshkosh on Dec 23, 1932 to James "Eddie" Crahen and Isabelle Young Crahen.

Jim served his country in the Army and was awarded the Purple Heart after being wounded in the battle for Heartbreak Ridge in Korea. Upon returning home he married the love of his life Carol Nelson on Nov. 28, 1953. Jim and Carol enjoyed 60 years together.

He was employed at SNC Manufacturing for 45 years, retiring as plant superintendent in 1998. During his time at SNC he managed and played on softball teams for SNC and Farnwald Dairy. Jim was a member of Club 13 for many years. He belonged to Oshkosh Management Club and was a member of D.A.V., Chapter 17.

Jim and Carol spent the past 15 years wintering in Mission, Texas where they enjoyed numerous trips into Mexico. He was an avid Wisconsin sports fan and spent many hours cheering on the Milwaukee Brewers and Green Bay Packers. In retirement he and Carol spent many weekends traveling to flea markets as both buyers and sellers, always looking for the next great treasure. Jim's greatest pleasure was spending time with family and friends.

Jim is survived by his loving wife Carol, sons Dan (Sue) of Appleton, Tom (Liz) of Nixa, MO, daughter Stacey (Randy) Davis of Oshkosh. He had two grandchildren Jennifer (Bill) Berning and Shawn (Mandy) Crahen and 5 great grand children, sisters Cleo Smoot of Neenah, Jackie Parish of Oshkosh and Patricia (Edward) Hanson of Cotton Valley, LA.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Larry.

A celebration of Jim's life will be held on Wednesday, July 2 at Fiss and Bills - Poklasny Funeral Home, 865 S Westhaven Dr., Oshkosh. Visitation will be from 4-5:30 followed by a memorial service.

The family extends their heartfelt appreciation to the staff of Aurora VNA Hospice.
