Brost, Jane Furlong
The Guest Book is expired.
Jane Furlong Brost, a longtime resident of Oshkosh, passed away July 24, 2013. Jane, who recently celebrated her 95th birthday, was born and grew up in Chicago; she attended Northwestern University in Evanston. She married Peter Brost in 1941 in the Windy City; several years later they moved to Oshkosh, where they raised their family of 7 children. Jane was the loving mother of Peter, Mike, Betty, Carol, Sally, Nancy, and Meg, as well as numerous pets. Her life revolved around them all, although she managed to squeeze in a few quiet moments to solve crossword puzzles! Always searching to expand their children's experiences, Jane and Pete purchased a cottage on Big Lake near Gresham, where their increasing family of 7 children, 7 son & daughter in-laws, 18 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren played over the next 50 years. In her spare time Jane played bridge, volunteered faithfully with the Red Cross and the Paine Art Center & Gardens, and was a prolific correspondent to her family across the world. Twenty years after moving to Oshkosh, Jane experienced farm life in Winchester, where she and Pete raised Arabian horses until Peter's passing in 2001. The family will hold a private service to bid adieu to our sweet mother. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Humane Society.
