Robert E. Stenerson, 86, of Oshkosh, died on Saturday, August 3, 2013 at Evergreen Retirement Community. He was born on May 15, 1927 in Merrill, WI the son of Edwin and Hazel Bauerfeind Stenerson. Robert married Lorraine Andresen Basler on July 28, 1984 in Neenah.
Robert graduated from Merrill High School in 1945, received his B. S. from U W Stevens Point and his Masters Degree from U W Oshkosh. He also studied at Northern Illinois University and University of Wisconsin Madison. Robert started his professional life in Harvard, IL and retired from the Oshkosh Public district after a 41 year teaching career. He served as Principal at Pardeeville then at Swart Campus School, Sunset School, Washington Elementary School and Read Elementary School all in Oshkosh retiring in 1989. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, reading, hunting, fishing, boating and camping. Robert was an avid Packer and Badger fan. Robert was a member of the Civil Defense League and the Oshkosh Elks Club. Bob was a member of Christ Lutheran Church. He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving during WWII.
Survivors include his wife, Lorraine; son, Al (Kay) Stenerson; daughters, Barbara (Gregory) Postl, Susan (Richard) Dillman, Carol (Jeffrey) Foust, Wendy Stenerson, and Kim Sitzberger; brother-in-law, LeRoy "Andy" Andresen; 18 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Larry Stenerson; sister, Bernice Burt; and brother-in-law, George Burt.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 8, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Christ Lutheran Church (222 Church Ave.) with the Rev. Jennifer Czarnota officiating. Family and friends may visit at the church on Thursday from 10:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Interment will be in Lake View Memorial Park.
