David N. Larsen David N. Larsen was born in Wisconsin during the Great Depression to Lawrence and Lorraine Larsen and went home to be with the Lord on February 20th, 2014, at age 75. Dave graduated from Renton High School in 1957, and then completed Army service before entering WSC. After a 6-month adventure in Africa as an International Farm Youth Exchange student, he graduated from WSU in 1964. A few weeks later, he met his future wife, Leilani, whom he married in 1967, beginning a lifelong love affair. After earning a Master's degree in Forestry Economics at Michigan State University, he went to work for the U.S. Forest Service. In 1974, a job opportunity with the Washington State Department of Natural Resources led to a move to Olympia, WA, where he and Leilani have now lived for almost 40 years. During that time, they were blessed with 3 sons, and Dave was actively involved with his church, Boy Scouting, Toastmasters, and finally, the Thurston Co. Food Bank. He had many health challenges in the later years as a cancer survivor but persevered through it all and always enjoyed helping others especially helping all 3 boys with their Eagle Scout projects. Dave is survived by his wife, Leilani, of nearly 47 years; son, Eric, and wife, Cara; son, Steve; son, Michael; and brothers, Bob, Bill, and Larry. His sister, Lois, and their parents predeceased him. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 1st at 11 AM at Grace Community Covenant Church (GCCC), which is located at 5501 Wiggins Rd.
